Wine Country Tour

Join some of our BOD Alameda families for an all-day Livermore Valley Wine bus tour. Room onboard for forty guests to enjoy a thoroughly delightful day which will include visits to several wineries, an incredible breakfast on the bus, a glorious picnic lunch and surprises along the way. End the day back in their hometown to visit the Rosenblum Winery. This trip is becoming a popular Bishop O'Dowd tradition.

Lair of the Dragon
According to folklore, when a dragon stirs in its subterranean lair, the earth quakes; when it breathes fire from below, volcanoes erupt. Join science teachers Tim Newman, Annie Prutzman, and Tom Tyler for a special evening "field trip" to Round Top, an old volcano in the Oakland/Berkeley hills that straddles the Wildcat Fault. Our leisurely, two-mile sunset walk will take us back in time, as we learn about the geology, history, and ecology of this unusual nature preserve. With the moon rising, we will descend into the heart of the dragon's lair - an abandoned quarry cut deep into this extraordinary volcanic terrain. We'll linger there to savor the quiet and explore the curious rock labyrinth within. Stars and moonlight will guide us on our return walk.
